Minerva says three plants cleared to export beef to Indonesia

Minerva, one of the largest meatpackers in South America, announced on Tuesday (Sept 10) that three of its plants have been cleared by Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) to export beef to Indonesia. The facilities are located in Alegrete (RS), Bagé (RS), and Pontes e Lacerda (MT).

With this development, the company now has nine plants authorized to serve the Asian market, reaching a slaughter capacity of more than 11,000 head of cattle per day dedicated to Indonesia.

The move strengthens Minerva’s strategy to expand its international presence and diversify export destinations at a time of rising global demand for beef. Indonesia is considered a key market, with a growing population and a strong reliance on imported meat.

In practice, the new licenses bolster the company’s position against competitors such as JBS and Marfrig, while helping mitigate commercial risks by broadening its base of buyers.

Minerva operates in the animal protein sector and is a leader in beef exports in South America. The company has operations in Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, and Colombia, with a diversified portfolio that includes fresh beef, processed products, and by-products, as well as activities in logistics and energy.
