The Swiss police reported this Thursday (5th) that they seized more than 500 kilos of cocaine from Brazil in bags of coffee beans delivered to a Nespresso factory.
On May 5, workers at a factory in Romont, Switzerland, received five containers with coffee bags. On the same day, they noticed a white powder in the shipment and alerted the authorities. Police analyses determined the substance to be cocaine.
According to initial investigations, the shipment came from Brazil, the police said. The authorities added that the cocaine seized is 80% pure.
During the operation, police said that they set up a security perimeter around the factory, which was attended by a delegation of customs officials.
The container units that carried the drug were isolated, and the substance did not contaminate the factory’s production, according to the statement from the authorities.
