Marquise Infraestrutura has been selected to carry out the construction of Pier Zero, a structure that will form part of Eneva’s new Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Regasification Terminal at the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex. The company won the tender based on a combined technical and price evaluation and will be responsible for one of the most significant energy infrastructure projects currently under development in northeastern Brazil.

The project includes the construction of port and operational facilities connected to the regasification terminal, which is considered strategic for expanding the region’s energy supply and enhancing energy security. The works are expected to take approximately 22 months to complete and will require a high level of technical and logistical expertise.

The new terminal is part of the ongoing expansion cycle at the Port of Pecém, which includes simultaneous investments in port, rail, industrial, and energy infrastructure. The development is expected to strengthen the Ceará-based complex’s position as one of Brazil’s leading logistics and energy hubs.

In addition to its infrastructure impacts, the project is expected to stimulate various sectors of the regional supply chain. An average of approximately 500 workers is expected to be employed throughout the construction period, creating jobs and income opportunities for the local population.

Marquise Infraestrutura has a longstanding track record of involvement in major projects at the Pecém Complex. Previous works include the port’s second access bridge and Phases 1 and 2 of the Multi-Utility Terminal (TMUT). The company is also currently involved in strategic sections of the Transnordestina Railway.

According to Renan Carvalho, CEO of Marquise Infraestrutura, the contract reinforces the company’s historic relationship with the Ceará port complex.

“Port of Pecém is part of Marquise Infraestrutura’s history and DNA. Over the years, we have participated in expanding this logistics complex and have built deep technical and operational knowledge of the region. Winning a contract of this magnitude represents not only recognition of our engineering capabilities, but also the satisfaction of contributing directly to the strategic development of Ceará and Brazil,” the executive said.

With the implementation of Pier Zero and the regasification terminal, the Pecém Complex will further increase its importance within Brazil’s energy matrix, strengthening its capacity to meet growing natural gas demand and consolidating its role as a driver of economic development in northeastern Brazil.
