Nissan is celebrating a major milestone in Brazil: its Resende plant, located in southern Rio de Janeiro, has reached the remarkable mark of 100,000 vehicles exported. The achievement underscores the Japanese automaker’s strength in Latin America and the steady progress of its Brazilian production operations.
The vehicle symbolizing this milestone was a white Nissan Kicks Play Sense with a manual transmission, destined for the Argentine market. Since exports began, Argentina has received more than half of all vehicles shipped abroad, highlighting the country’s importance to Nissan’s regional operations.
In addition to Argentina, the Resende complex has also exported vehicles to Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru, Costa Rica, Panama, and Bolivia, demonstrating Nissan’s regional reach and solidifying the Brazilian plant’s role as a strategic export hub for Latin America.
The first car produced in Brazil for export was the compact Nissan March, initially shipped to Bolivia. However, the first official export occurred when units were sent to Paraguay, marking the beginning of an export trajectory that has continued to strengthen for more than a decade.
Among the most exported models are well-known versions in Brazil, such as the March S, Versa Sense, Kicks Play Advance, and new Kicks Advance. These models have helped consolidate Nissan’s presence across multiple Latin American markets.
Currently, the Resende factory produces the new Nissan Kicks and Kicks Play for export. However, the future looks even more ambitious, as the company has confirmed a R$ 2.8 billion investment to produce a new SUV model that will be sold in more than 20 countries, transforming Resende into a key export hub for Nissan in the region.
The Nissan Industrial Complex celebrated its 11th anniversary in 2025 and currently employs around 2,600 direct Nissan workers. Including suppliers and service providers, the total workforce surpasses 3,200 people.
