A promising foreign trade report from the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) reveals a remarkable 121% increase in Paraguay’s wheat exports in 2024 compared to 2023.
According to the annual report, the country achieved a highly satisfactory harvest last year, enabling the export of 546,000 tonnes of wheat. This marks a significant rise from the 247,000 tonnes exported in 2023.

Exporters reported a notable 90% growth in revenue from wheat exports compared to the previous year.
“In 2023, wheat exports generated $67 million, while in 2024, revenue climbed to $127 million, despite an 11.7% year-on-year drop in the commodity’s price,” the report highlighted.
It was also noted that wheat exports account for roughly 50% of Paraguay’s total production, with the remaining volume allocated to the domestic market and local industries.
“The majority of wheat exports are shipped as raw, unprocessed material. The challenge now is to focus on adding value through processing,” stated the Paraguayan Millers’ Association.
Currently, Brazil is the primary market for Paraguayan wheat exports. However, with the industrialization of production, Paraguay aims to expand its export reach to other countries in the region, the report concluded.
