Paraguay’s industrial exports climbed 17.2% year over year in January 2026, marking sustained growth compared with the same period in both 2025 and 2024. Shipments of ethyl alcohol and wires and cables — primarily auto parts — were the main drivers of the increase.

The stronger performance in industrial goods helped offset sharp declines in soybean and beef exports, which fell 17.5% and 21.6%, respectively. As a result, total exports reached $1.286 billion in January, down 4.2% from a year earlier.

By level of processing, beverages, alcoholic liquids and vinegar recorded a notable increase of 23 metric tons in export volume. Significant shipments were also reported for copper scrap and waste, electrical machinery and equipment, and insecticides and herbicides.

Beef exports declined 32.7% in terms of volume shipped. However, the pork sector posted a strong performance in January, with export volumes up 48% and export value rising 61%. Taiwan accounted for more than 92% of pork export demand during the month.

Paraguay’s maquila sector also delivered robust growth, with exports totaling $112 million — a 46.9% increase year over year.

Imports reached $1.448 billion in January, up 1.4% from the same month in 2025. China remained Paraguay’s largest supplier, accounting for 37% of total imports, followed by Brazil (20%) and the United States (6%).
