According to the Agricultural Situation Report released this Thursday (30) by analysts from the Department of Rural Economics (Deral) of the State Secretariat for Agriculture and Supply (Seab), companies in Paraná imported 8.66 thousand tonnes of dairy products in 2024, of which 1.83 thousand tonnes were milk powder.
The report shows that the total volume of imported dairy products was 4.6% higher than in 2020, while milk powder imports rose 11.2% over the same period. Compared with 2023, however, Deral reported significant declines of 31.2% in total dairy imports and 71.9% in milk powder purchases.
For 2025, expectations point to stable import levels, with volumes similar to those seen in the previous year. Between January and September, dairies in the state imported approximately 7,000 tonnes of dairy products, including 1,150 tonnes of milk powder, according to the report.
Although still modest compared with the state’s total production, exports from the sector continue to expand. In the first nine months of 2025, the volume of exported dairy products has already surpassed the total recorded in 2024. According to Deral, the increase is even more notable compared with 2023, as two years ago Paraná exported less than one-third of the current volume. Whey was the main exported product, with 7.2 thousand tonnes sold.
