For the first time in history, the Truck Staging Yard at the Port of Paranaguá received 2,523 grain- and meal-loaded trucks in a single 24-hour period. The traffic recorded between July 21 and 22 was 4% higher than the previous record set in July 2023, when 2,456 trucks accessed the site.

From July 1 to yesterday, 38,494 trucks entered the yard. That volume has already surpassed the numbers for June and May and is expected to exceed April’s total of 38,615 trucks. In the first half of this year, 254,338 trucks entered the staging yard, a 13.3% increase over the same period in 2024.

“This level of activity shows we’re ready and fully capable of meeting the needs of farmers, industry, exporters, and importers. We achieve this by applying logistical intelligence and continuously investing in infrastructure,” said Luiz Fernando Garcia, CEO of Portos do Paraná.

The record set on Tuesday afternoon successfully surpassed the yard’s projected daily capacity of 2,500 trucks. The site also offers 1,000 static parking spaces. “Once again, the Carga Online system proved effective, preventing traffic buildup on the roads leading to the staging yard,” explained Alessandro Conforto, a senior advisor to the operations directorate at Portos do Paraná.

Carga Online is responsible for the planning that ensures efficient and organized reception of cargo arriving by road. Through this system, companies are notified of the exact date and time window when their trucks can access the staging yard, as soon as their cargo shipments are approved.

This allows the receiving teams to prepare in advance and work efficiently. That was the case in recent days, with additional personnel assigned to classify products due to the surge in arrivals.

Once the entry schedule into the yard is organized, authorities can also manage vehicle dispatch to the export terminals, avoiding bottlenecks and reducing traffic congestion in the port area.

The benefits of Carga Online are mutual. In addition to keeping traffic flowing smoothly, it ensures truck drivers don’t waste time waiting in long lines, allowing them to take on more freight jobs.

“Even with this record-setting movement, operations remained within control parameters, and cargo quality inspections were rigorously maintained. This reaffirms our commitment to the Port of Paranaguá’s standards of excellence,” said Bruno Guimarães, the staging yard coordinator.

High cargo volume

According to the Port Operations Directorate, the Port of Paranaguá is experiencing a period of intense export demand. Teams are mobilized across all operational fronts to serve export corridor operators with maximum efficiency.

In recent days, nearly all berths along the Paranaguá quay have been occupied by large vessels, with as many as 20 ships docked simultaneously, including at the liquid bulk terminal.

Portos do Paraná is expected to surpass its cargo throughput record once again. In 2024, the company moved 66.7 million tons. For this year, the estimate is 70 million tons. In just the first half of 2025, the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina handled 34.2 million tons of imports and exports — the highest volume ever recorded in a single semester.
