On Tuesday, March 5th, Berth 214 of the Port of Paranaguá resumed operations, welcoming back ships for cargo loading, thus making the East Export Corridor fully active with all three berths operational.
The reactivation of Berth 214 results from joint efforts spearheaded by Portos do Paraná and the Association of Paranaguá Export Corridor Terminals (ATEXP) aimed at recuperating the berth from damages sustained after a fire broke out on February 23rd.
All necessary maintenance services were conducted to ensure a safe resumption of operations at the berth. This recovery effort was completed on Monday, March 4th, when cargo-free tests commenced before the complete return of activities. Now, all three berths of the East Export Corridor, namely 212, 213, and 214, are operational.
The fire that affected the area was reported on February 23rd, and investigations into the causes are still underway by the relevant authorities. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and all ships were undocked as a precaution. The Mutual Aid Plan (PAM) was activated, and in collaboration with the Fire Department, promptly extinguished the flames on-site.
