The Pecém Port Complex (CIPP S.A) has officially announced that it will join the OAS – Authorized Economic Operator program, which aims to establish secure international supply chains. In Brazil, the Federal Revenue Service endorses candidacies to the program and measures cargo security, tax, and customs compliance through a specific audit process.
According to Valter Araújo, the operational development manager, the port of Pecém shall be the first private use terminal in Brazil’s northeast to join the OAS program. “This voluntary certification aims to increase the security of the entire logistics chain. Furthermore, this gives the terminal an upgrade, generating even more reliability for our customers,” he comments.
Among the eligibility criteria that must be followed by companies wishing to join the OAS program are process management, information security; human resources management and professional qualification; and customs risk management.
