Week 202607

Petrobras closed 2025 with the highest oil and gas production in its history, reaching nearly 3 million barrels per day, driven by the expansion of the pre-salt fields and the start-up of new platforms.

The record operational performance also supported a surge in exports, which reached the highest annual volume ever recorded by the state-controlled company.

According to data released on Tuesday (10), the company comfortably exceeded its production targets and replenished reserves, even in a year marked by scheduled maintenance shutdowns and the natural decline of mature fields.

Key production figures in 2025:

* Average annual net production: 2.99 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe) per day (+11%)
* Total production in Q4: 3.081 million boe per day
* Q4 increase: +18.6% compared to the fourth quarter of 2024
* Quarterly decline: -1.1% compared to the third quarter of 2025
* Pre-salt production: 82% of total output in Q4
* Pre-salt in 2025: 2.45 million boe per day (+11.4%)
* Búzios field: more than 1 million barrels per day (bpd) in October
* Installed capacity at Búzios: around 1.15 million bpd

Petrobras explained that the slight contraction in the fourth quarter compared to the previous period was mainly due to maintenance shutdowns at platforms in the Campos Basin, such as Marlim and Voador. The impact was partially offset by increased capacity at the Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) units Almirante Tamandaré and Marechal Duque de Caxias, in the Santos Basin.

The Almirante Tamandaré unit, the largest platform ever installed in the country, produces around 240,000 barrels per day. Meanwhile, the P-79 platform, which arrived at the Búzios field this week, is expected to add another 180,000 barrels per day to the company’s capacity.

Reserves on the rise

Even with record production, the company posted its best reserve replacement performance in a decade:

* Reserves added in 2025: 1.7 billion boe
* Reserve replacement ratio (RRR): 175%
* Proved reserves-to-production ratio: 12.5 years

Exports also hit a record

The increase in production was directly reflected in oil exports, making 2025 a historic year for Petrobras and for Brazil’s trade balance.

* Average exports in 2025: 765,000 barrels per day
* Annual growth: +27%
* Q4 peak: around 1 million barrels per day

China remained the main destination for Brazilian oil. In the fourth quarter, India began to rival Europe for second place, accounting for 12% of exported volumes, compared to 13% for European countries.

In a statement, Petrobras said the records were the result of operational efficiency gains, logistics optimization, and the diversification of its customer portfolio in international markets.
