About 70% of the cargo, or 8.6 million tonnes, was transported via long-haul routes. The remaining 30% (3.7 million tonnes) was moved through cabotage (coastal shipping). In addition, general cargo totaled 5.1 million tonnes, an increase of 6.54% compared to February of the previous year.
Public ports handled 35.5 million tonnes of cargo, a slight decrease of 0.48%. In contrast, private terminals saw a 7.18% decline compared to February 2024, moving 61.6 million tonnes of cargo.

Bauxite followed with 2.7 million tonnes transported (up 13.09%), and fertilizers with 3.2 million tonnes moved (up 13.05%).
To expand Brazilian products’ export capacity, the federal government plans to auction 44 terminals at major Brazilian ports over the next two years. The initiative involves an estimated investment of R$15.4 billion (approx. USD 3 billion) and is expected to generate economic and social development.
