The Port of Ilhéus simultaneously loaded two long-haul vessels this week, showcasing the growing strength and operational capacity of the southern Bahia terminal. The Snoekgracht, carrying 10,109.648 tonnes of nickel from Itagibá (BA) to Pori, Finland, and the Irene, loaded with 9,355.405 tonnes of cargo from Araçuaí (MG) bound for Zhenjiang, China, marked a milestone for the port’s export performance.

The operation utilized 100% of the port’s berthing capacity, highlighting the full use of its installed infrastructure — a direct result of structural investments by Codeba’s Board of Directors, particularly the dredging project, which improved safety, maneuvering efficiency, and overall operational performance.

“With these operations, the Port of Ilhéus reached 202,886 tonnes handled between January and September 2025, along with a 74% increase in operating revenue. This performance raised the port’s share to 8% of Codeba’s total revenue, consolidating its strategic relevance and economic viability,” said Gilberto Rodrigues, Port Manager at Ilhéus.

Fully public, the Port of Ilhéus continues to play a key role in regional development. All investments were funded with Codeba’s own resources, reflecting the commitment and vision of Bahia’s Federal Port Authority to transform the terminal into a driver of economic and social growth for southern Bahia, aligned with its public and strategic mission.
