The Port of Imbituba closed the January–October 2025 period with 6.17 million tonnes handled and 268 vessel calls. The performance confirms the ongoing growth trend of the Santa Catarina port complex and points to a possible annual record if the pace is maintained through December.
October posts the highest throughput in history
The highlight of the year was October, when the port handled 714.7 thousand tonnes. In total, 27 vessels were serviced in the period, consolidating the best monthly result ever recorded.
In imports, the port reached a significant milestone: more than 406,000 tonnes were unloaded in October, the highest monthly volume since the beginning of operations.

Exports, imports, and cabotage on the rise
Year-to-date:
- Exports: reached 2.53 million tonnes.
- Imports: totaled 2.86 million tonnes, an increase of 2.5% compared with the same period in 2024.
- Cabotage: maintained consistent growth, with 547.3 thousand tonnes loaded and 136.8 thousand tonnes unloaded — up 3.8% compared with the previous year.
- The container segment also continues to expand, accounting for 17.3% of all throughput, equivalent to more than 1.06 million tonnes.
Expectation is to surpass 7 million tonnes by December
At the current pace, the projection is that the Port of Imbituba will surpass the 7-million-tonne mark handled in 2025 — a result that reinforces the strategic importance of the terminal for Santa Catarina’s logistics.
Investments drive growth
According to Santa Catarina’s Secretary of Ports, Airports and Railways, Beto Martins, the performance is a direct result of the modernization of the port structure:
“The continued growth of the Port of Imbituba is the result of disciplined operations, qualified teams, and investments that have modernized the entire complex. We continue advancing in structural projects such as dredging, berth expansion, and process digitalization,” he said.
The CEO of SCPar Porto de Imbituba, Christiano Lopes, reinforces the strategic role of the terminal for regional development:
“The Port of Imbituba has consolidated itself as a strategic asset for the state, generating competitiveness for our industry, strengthening agribusiness, and expanding our international presence. October’s performance reaffirms that we are on the right track to transform Santa Catarina’s logistics infrastructure into a national benchmark.”
