The Port of Itajaí received the Panamanian-flagged Ro-Ro vessel Höegh Victoria Highway on Tuesday morning (21). The ship arrived at the access channel around 8:30 a.m., carrying 818 BMW vehicles from Veracruz, Mexico, and Jacksonville, Florida. Unloading operations began around 1 p.m.
The operation reaffirms Itajaí’s role as a national benchmark in vehicle handling efficiency and safety, strengthening the regional economy and generating hundreds of direct and indirect jobs.
“The Port of Itajaí is a reference in this segment for its agility, safety, and for generating employment and income for the city, driving the entire economy of Santa Catarina,” said superintendent João Paulo Tavares Bastos.
The Roll-On/Roll-Off (Ro-Ro) system — in which vehicles are loaded and unloaded on their own wheels — enables faster operations and reduces damage risk, helping the Santa Catarina port consolidate its position as a strategic hub for high-value automotive logistics.
Details:
• Type of vessel: Ro-Ro (Roll-On/Roll-Off)
• Vessel name: Höegh Victoria Highway
• Vehicles unloaded: 818 BMW units
• Arrival time: 8:30 a.m.
• Start of unloading: 1 p.m.
• Total Ro-Ro ships in 2025: 12 operations
• Total vehicles handled this year: around 8,100 units
