The Port of Itajaí has already exceeded its total revenue for 2024 in just the first half of 2025. In just six months, the terminal generated R$89,824,000 in revenue, surpassing the R$86 million collected throughout the entire year.

“With consistent gains in operational efficiency and logistical productivity, the Port of Itajaí strengthens its competitiveness and signals to the market the confidence of a public terminal in full recovery and ready to meet the demands of foreign trade,” emphasized João Paulo Tavares Bastos, Superintendent of the Port of Itajaí.

This strong performance reflects the consolidation of Itajaí as one of the leading logistics players in the country, noted for its efficiency and operational capacity across various types of cargo.

Below is a historical overview of cargo throughput from Itajaí Port. The chart was prepared using DataLiner data:

Among the operations that contributed to this achievement were Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) movements, which allow for the transport of vehicles on specialized vessels. The largest Ro-Ro operation ever carried out in Brazil took place at the Port of Itajaí, with the arrival of the vessel BYD Shenzhen, responsible for unloading over 7,000 vehicles from the Chinese automaker.

In addition to BYD, the terminal also handled vehicles from BMW, reinforcing its strategic role in both the national and international automotive supply chain.

These operations once again place Itajaí on the national logistics priority route, highlighting the direct impact of the port sector on Santa Catarina’s and Brazil’s economies as a whole.

“The Port of Itajaí has also stood out in general cargo operations, generating more income for port workers,” the superintendent added.
