The Port of Montevideo is loading 28,400 live cattle onto two livestock carriers for export, in an operation that also includes 6,025 tonnes of feed.
The Mawashi Express, a Panama-flagged vessel measuring 195.31 meters long and 33.74 meters wide, will carry 20,000 cattle and 4,700 tonnes of feed. The ship is docked at Pier B, berths 8 and 9, at the Uruguayan port.
The Saphira, which sails under the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, will take on 8,400 cattle and 1,325 tonnes of feed. The livestock carrier is berthed at Pier B, berths 6 and 7.
“Uruguay reaffirms the strategic role of agribusiness in connecting its economy to global markets, with the Port of Montevideo serving as a key link in the country’s export chain,” Uruguay’s National Ports Administration, ANP, said.
