Port of Natal Advances in Decarbonization Agenda
May, 16, 2025 Posted by Denise VileraWeek 202520
The Port of Natal has taken another significant step toward sustainability. In partnership with Agrícola Famosa and Potigás, Codern is participating in a pioneering initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in cargo transport.
The initiative led to the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Agrícola Famosa’s truck fleet, directly contributing to the decarbonization agenda within the logistics sector. One of the CNG-equipped trucks underwent operational testing at the Port of Natal, marking the beginning of a new phase in sustainable transportation in the region.
This initiative is part of Codern’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) agenda, reinforcing the company’s commitment to responsible and innovative practices. Using CNG as an alternative energy source significantly reduces CO₂ emissions, promoting cleaner logistics aligned with the global market’s environmental requirements.
Through this partnership, the Port of Natal reaffirms its leadership in modernizing and sustaining Brazil’s port sector.
