The Port of Natal will carry out a test shipment of 3,300 head of live cattle to Lebanon on June 24 and 25. The operation is considered strategic for positioning Rio Grande do Norte in the international live animal export market.
According to the state government, following the test, Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture is expected to authorize regular exports through the terminal, with the potential to generate up to R$1 billion per year for the state’s economy.
The shipment will be monitored by technicians from the International Agricultural Surveillance Service (Vigiagro), who will evaluate the port’s infrastructure and compliance with sanitary requirements.
Currently, Rio Grande do Norte already has two Pre-Shipment Stations registered with the Ministry of Agriculture, located in Alto do Rodrigues and São Gonçalo do Amarante, where the animals undergo quarantine before export.
