A significant surge in cargo handling has been recorded at the Port of Salvador. For the first time in the history of the public quay, four bulk carriers are simultaneously berthed and operating.

The coordinated operation is the result of investments by the Federal Port Authority – CODEBA to improve the infrastructure of Brazil’s first organized port, as well as joint efforts with Intermarítima and the Port Labor Management Body (OGMO).

CODEBA’s president, Antonio Gobbo, explains that the use of shore cranes has enabled increased efficiency and productivity at the Port of Salvador, making the terminal more competitive within the logistics landscape.

“This is the first time in the history of this century-old port that we have four bulk carriers berthed, occupying all cargo berths at the Port of Salvador. Another important point is the reactivation of the berth in front of Warehouse 5, which had never been used. All this coordinated work has also been made possible thanks to the support of the teams at CODEBA, Intermarítima, and OGMO, who understood the importance of expanding the port’s operational capacity to generate more jobs, income, and development for the state of Bahia,” he said.
