Cargo handling at the Port of São Francisco do Sul saw a 6% increase in April compared to last year.
The total volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Santa Catarina’s largest port reached 1.48 million tonnes in April 2024, up from 1.39 million tonnes in April 2024.
Highlights include soybean and corn exports (610 thousand tonnes), as well as imports of steel products (413 thousand tonnes) and fertilizers (347 thousand tonnes).
Total throughput for the first four months of 2025 reached 5.7 million tonnes. Exports remained the dominant flow at the northern Santa Catarina terminal, accounting for 54% of the total (3.1 million tonnes), while imports amounted to 2.6 million tonnes (46%).
“The Port of São Francisco do Sul continues to stand out in commodity handling. With efficient management, it maintains high-performance indicators and ensures growth in cargo movement,” said Beto Martins, Santa Catarina’s Secretary for Ports, Airports, and Railways.
Cleverton Vieira, President of the Port of São Francisco, highlighted the advantages of the terminal’s multipurpose status, which allows it to handle a variety of products, such as soybeans, corn, fertilizers, and steel.
“This multipurpose nature allows us to sustain growth in cargo movement even when fluctuations in a particular market segment occur. That’s why we prioritize infrastructure investments—always to be prepared to serve all users in the best possible way.”
