Rice Exports Drop 40% in October, Says Abiarroz

Brazil’s rice exports (husked basis) totaled 122,900 tons in October, a 40% decrease compared to the same period in 2023, according to the Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz). Revenue from these exports fell 28%, amounting to $47.1 million.
From January to October, total rice exports reached 1.52 million tons, a 26.2% decline, with revenue of $457.4 million. The FOB value dropped by 15.76%.
According to Abiarroz, rice imports in October amounted to 122,300 tons (husked basis), a 2% decline compared to October 2023. Spending on these imports reached $58.49 million, an increase of 9%.
Year-to-date, rice imports grew by about 9%, totaling 1.377 million tons, with expenditures of $624.3 million, a 39% increase.
