Santa Catarina’s exports continue to rise in 2025. From January to May, exports grew by 6.5% compared to the same period in 2024, according to data from the federal government. Revenue jumped from USD 4.59 billion in 2024 to USD 4.88 billion in 2025—an increase of USD 295 million. The figures indicate growing international demand for the state’s industrial products and a boost to local production.
Various sectors drove this 6.5% growth over the five months. Key highlights include exports of paper and cardboard (+23%), electrical machinery (+21%), pork (+17%), construction materials (+14%), wood (+12%), poultry (+9.2%), and furniture (+6.3%). The data, released on Thursday, June 5, show no significant impacts on poultry exports. With no avian influenza cases in the state, the Santa Catarina government continues to prioritize animal health practices.
“Santa Catarina’s production is known for its high quality—driven by innovation, commitment, and the dedication of our workers and business leaders. That’s why our state is recognized both nationally and internationally as a model to follow. The growth in exports reflects the strength and quality of our industry,” said Governor Jorginho Mello.
Meat Products Lead Export Portfolio
The top export product for Santa Catarina in the first five months of 2025 was poultry meat, generating USD 818 million, or 16% of total exports. In second place was pork, with USD 683 million (14%). Next came electric generators at USD 250 million, wood at USD 209 million, and soybeans at USD 189 million.
According to Silvio Dreveck, State Secretary of Industry, Commerce, and Services, a favorable business environment is crucial for increasing exports.
“Santa Catarina offers public safety, legal certainty, and efficient ports. We’re the second most competitive state in Brazil. Additionally, the state government has been taking its part—expanding tax incentives, supporting innovation, and encouraging entrepreneurship. The result is increased economic activity and export growth,” Dreveck stated.
From January to May, the United States was Santa Catarina’s top export destination, accounting for USD 702 million in revenue. It was followed by China (USD 502 million) and Argentina (USD 369 million). Rounding out the top five were Japan (USD 263 million) and Chile (USD 250 million). In total, Santa Catarina will be exported to over 190 destinations throughout 2025.
