The Santos Port Authority (APS) will create a specialized committee to assess and propose solutions for operational and infrastructure bottlenecks at the Port of Santos under a technical cooperation agreement signed with the Engineering Institute of São Paulo (IE).
The partnership was formalized on Monday at the APS office in São Paulo. The agreement, which will run for 24 months, will focus on key issues affecting the port region, including land access, logistics, urban planning, paving and drainage.
Under the agreement, the Engineering Institute will organize workshops and technical plenary sessions with industry specialists, while APS will provide technical data and logistical support. The document was signed by APS President Anderson Pomini and IE President José Eduardo Frascá Jardim.
As part of its sustainability agenda, APS also formalized its participation in the Blue Santos digital platform. The initiative, coordinated by Rethinking Works (RTW) and the Association of Engineers and Architects of Santos (AEAS), aims to promote sustainable business and the preservation of marine ecosystems.
With the signing of a memorandum of understanding valid for 36 months, APS will hold a seat on the platform’s advisory council. The initiative seeks to align the port with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while training managers in “blue economy” practices and environmental impact management.
The blue economy refers to the sustainable use of ocean and coastal resources to support economic growth, improve livelihoods and create jobs while preserving ecosystem health.
The signing ceremony was attended by APS President Anderson Pomini, AEAS President Andre de Fazio and RTW President Mathias Mangels.
