Secex: beef and pork exports remain strong; poultry sees a slight decline

Brazilian exports of beef and pork remain strong through the fourth week of May, while poultry exports have seen a slight drop in the daily average of shipments. The partial export figures for Brazilian animal protein were released on Monday, the 26th, by the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) of the Ministry of Development, Industry, and Trade and Services (MDIC) and so far account for 16 business days.

Beef exports from Brazil totaled 173.80 thousand tons through the fourth week of May, with a daily average of 10,862 tons over 16 business days. Compared to the daily average exported in May 2024, which was 10,093 tons, there was a 7.62% increase. During the entire month of May last year, exports totaled 211,956 tons. The average price per ton also rose in May 2025, currently at US$ 5,177.70, up 14.9% from the May 2024 average of US$ 4,503.20. As for revenue, the accumulated amount through the fourth week of May is US$899.9 million, compared to US$954.47 million for the entire month of May last year.

Regarding poultry exports, the volume shipped through the fourth week of May totaled 318,529 tons. In May 2024, 424,417 tons were exported. The current daily average of shipments is 19,908 tons, 1.49% below the 20,210 tons of May 2024. In terms of revenue, the current month of May has so far reached US$575.95 million, whereas May 2024 closed with US$751.89 million. The average daily revenue from poultry exports is currently US$1,808.20 per ton, 2.07% higher than the US$1,771.60 per ton recorded in May 2024.

As for pork exports, Brazil shipped 82,226 tons through the fourth week of May. In May 2024, the total exported was 91,629 tons. The average daily export is 5,139 tons over these 16 business days in May, 17.79% higher than the 4,363 tons exported in May 2024. The revenue generated before the end of the month, US$ 211.51 million, has already surpassed the total for May 2024, which was US$ 210.08 million, by 0.68%. This is due to a higher average price per ton in May 2025 compared to May 2024. This month, importers paid US$2,572.40 per ton, 12.19% more than the US$2,292.80 per ton recorded in May 2024.
