South Korea Approves Brazilian Exports of Raw Hides and Skins

The Brazilian government has received confirmation from South Korean sanitary authorities approving the international certificate model that enables the export of raw hides and skins of hoofed animals from Brazil.
With over 51 million inhabitants, high purchasing power, and a highly developed industrial sector, South Korea is one of Asia’s most dynamic economies and a major global consumer of leather—a strategic input for the fashion, footwear, furniture, and automotive industries.
In 2024, Brazil exported more than US$2.8 billion in agricultural products to South Korea, with highlights including soybeans, grains, flour, and meat. The addition of raw hides and skins to the list of exportable goods represents a significant opportunity to diversify and add value to Brazil’s cattle industry supply chain, contributing to the full utilization of animals and greater sustainability in the sector.
With this announcement, Brazilian agribusiness has reached 396 market openings since the beginning of 2023.
This outcome is the result of joint efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
