The National Supply Company (Conab) reported in its September edition of the Logistics Bulletin, released on Monday (29), that the performance of soybean meal this season was linked to the animal protein sector and, to a greater extent, the growth in biodiesel demand. According to the bulletin, this movement “improved the participation in crushing industry margins.”
According to the Conab forecast, soybean meal production is expected to increase to 45.1 million tonnes, with exports projected at 23.6 million tonnes and domestic consumption at 21.5 million tonnes. The volume represents only a slight increase compared with the previous crop, but will result in carryover stocks of 5.4 million tonnes, a record in the monitored series.
From January to August 2025, soybean meal exports totaled 15.3 million tonnes, compared to 15.4 million in the same period last year. The Port of Santos accounted for 43.5% of national shipments, down from 45.2% in the same interval in 2024. Paranaguá represented 29.1%, compared to 26.7% the previous year; Rio Grande, 15.3%, versus 14.7%; and Salvador, 7.8%, compared to 6.9% in the same period last year.
The cargoes originated mainly from the states of Mato Grosso, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, and Goiás.
