Suape vehicle hub posts record throughput in 2025 on export growth

The vehicle hub at the Port of Suape closed 2025 with a record performance, consolidating its position as one of the leading automotive logistics hubs in Brazil’s North and Northeast regions. The port complex handled 83,992 vehicles during the year, up 5% from 2024 and above the previous record of 80,647 units set in 2023.
The result reflects an expansion in logistics operations, driven mainly by a sharp rise in vehicle exports, which reached 74,436 units, a 20% increase year on year. Data from Brazil’s National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea) show that the country exported 387,373 passenger vehicles between January and November 2025, with Suape accounting for 18.23% of that total over the period.
The strong performance underscores the appeal of the Pernambuco port as a platform for both imports and exports in the automotive segment, serving as a key gateway for regional production to international markets. On the export side, shipments were led by Stellantis’ automotive complex in Goiana, in northern Pernambuco, with Argentina, Mexico and Chile as the main destinations.
On the import side, operations involved Toyota, General Motors, BYD and Volkswagen. Transshipment activities, which involve the transfer of cargo between vessels, included Renault, Toyota and Nissan. The main origins of imported vehicles were Argentina and Mexico, reinforcing Suape’s integration into Latin America’s automotive trade routes.
According to the port authority, the vehicle hub’s performance directly supports regional economic growth by strengthening Pernambuco’s role in domestic and international logistics chains, while generating jobs, income and new business opportunities.
Regulatory approval
Further underpinning this growth trajectory, the Port of Suape received approval from Brazil’s waterway transport regulator ANTAQ in December 2025 to move forward with the bidding process for the vehicle terminal known as SUA 01. The authorization allows the area to be leased to the private sector, with estimated investments of 4.6 million reais aimed at modernizing infrastructure and expanding operational capacity.
The tender will proceed after approval from the federal audit court, with the bidding notice expected to be launched in the first half of the year.
