TCP handles more than 800 LCL containers at Paranaguá

TCP, the company that operates the Paranaguá Container Terminal, received 851 import containers carrying consolidated cargo between January and July 2026.
The cargo is known in the industry as LCL, or less-than-container load, a maritime transport option in which shipments from different importers are consolidated into a single container.
By making better use of available space, LCL operations reduce costs and simplify procedures for customers importing cargo volumes that are not large enough to fill an entire container.
“LCL container operations at TCP are faster and less bureaucratic because the terminal has Brazil’s largest bonded warehouse in a primary customs zone, with more than 9,000 square meters,” said Fabio Mattos, TCP’s commercial manager.
“Consolidated cargo is released, on average, in just 48 hours. For customers in Curitiba and the metropolitan region, the terminal also offers direct door delivery,” he added.
The number of individual LCL cargo consignments handled by TCP and delivered to customers reached 9,034 in the first seven months of 2026.
Most goods imported under this format were plastics and plastic products, which accounted for about 46% of the processes handled by TCP.
“The LCL container is positioned at the dock of TCP’s bonded warehouse, where the seal is removed, the container is opened and the cargo is checked. The shipments are then removed, separated by customer, palletized and packed, completing the stripping process,” said Washington Renan Bohnn, TCP’s logistics operations manager.
When a port terminal does not have a bonded import warehouse, LCL containers must be received and stripped at an external bonded facility. In those cases, the importer must request a customs transit declaration or a container transit declaration to transfer the unit.
That makes the process slower and more bureaucratic and generates additional costs for customers.
Over the full year of 2025, TCP received 1,508 LCL import containers and completed 16,405 delivery processes.
