In a public hearing held on Tuesday, the 29th, by Brazil’s Federal Court of Accounts (TCU), the president of the Santos Port Authority, Anderson Pomini, surprised attendees by publicly supporting the model proposed by the National Waterway Transportation Agency (Antaq) for the auction of Tecon Santos 10 — a container terminal at the Port of Santos.

After previously voicing opposition, Pomini is now aligned with the regulatory agency and the National Secretariat of Ports, arguing that the restrictions are meant to serve the public interest. “Cargo at the Port of Santos competes internally, and the role of the port authority is to ensure that, 20 years from now, the port has adequate capacity for all cargo types relevant to the country,” he stated.
