Two Arab countries, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, were among the leading destinations of Brazilian poultry exports in 2025, meat lobby ABPA said on Thursday (6). The UAE was the largest buyer, with 479,000 metric tons, a 5.5% increase over 2024. Saudi Arabia ranked third among international destinations, purchasing 397,200 tons, up 7.1% from the previous year.

According to the lobby, Japan was the second-largest buyer of Brazilian poultry meat, with 402,900 tons, down 0.9% from 2024. South Africa ranked fourth, importing 336,000 tons (+3.3%), and the Philippines came in fifth, with 264,200 tons (+12.5%).

ABPA celebrated the positive export performance in 2025, despite the occurrence of avian flu in the country. Overseas sales totaled 5.324 million tons, exceeding the 2024 total by 0.6% and setting a new annual export record for the sector, according to the association. Revenue, however, slipped slightly by 1.4%, totaling USD 9.790 billion.

“The year was marked by the sector’s resilience and by overcoming one of the greatest challenges in the history of Brazil’s poultry industry, with the recording of a case—now resolved—of highly pathogenic avian influenza in commercial birds. Ending the year with positive results, as forecast by ABPA, is an achievement to be celebrated and reinforces the outlook projected for 2026, expanding Brazil’s presence in the global market,” said ABPA president Ricardo Santin in a statement.
