USA soybean exports reach a 6-month high
Sep, 28, 2021 Posted by Ruth HollardWeek 202138
Preliminary data from September 27 show that US soybean exports jumped to a six-month high last week, while corn exports were the highest in a month. Louisiana’s Gulf Coast terminals are steadily ramping up operations that were suspended nearly a month ago by Hurricane Ida.
Yet the export pace remains well below normal for this time of year, as some terminals remain closed or are operating at reduced capacity after the storm flooded and damaged some facilities and destroyed the region’s electricity grid.
Ida hampered overseas grain exports weeks before the start of the Midwest crop and the busiest period for US crop exports, boosting export prices and fueling global concerns about food inflation.
