Vale announced this Monday (16) that it has obtained a preliminary license for the Bacaba copper project, located in Canaã dos Carajás (Pará).
“This is the first in a series of copper projects that Vale plans to develop in the Carajás mineral province, with the strategic goal of doubling its copper production capacity over the next decade,” the company said in a statement.
The project aims to extend the lifespan of the Sossego complex, contributing an average annual output of approximately 50 thousand tonnes over eight years of operation.
The Brazilian mining company will invest approximately US$ 290 million during the project’s implementation phase. Production is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2028.
