VHP sugar exports from Brazil to exceed 27 mt by March 2024

Sugar exports in 2023 are not likely to catch up to record levels seen in 2020; still, the export volume should be higher than in 2022.
According to analysts at Itaú BBA, the 2023/24 harvest had a slow start due to recurrent rains in April, but the sugar output managed to stay above the peak of the last five years.

Under the current scenario, Brazil is expected to have exported 27 million tonnes of sugar by March next year and, by December 2023, 22 million tonnes. “Even if shipments occur without major complications, it will be necessary to closely monitor cargo flows internally, as large corn shipments are expected in the coming months, ” they said.
