VLI – a logistics solutions company that operates railways, ports, and terminals – recorded the best October in its 15-year history, considering the volumes handled on the railways and ports where it operates. In total, VLI transported 4.05 billion TKU (ton-kilometers, a metric that considers both cargo volume and distance traveled) by rail and 4.04 million tonnes at ports, with highlights in the North and Southeast Corridors.
In the North, VLI not only recorded its best October ever in railway operations, with 1.45 billion TKU, but also set a 12-month accumulated record of 14.9 billion TKU. This corridor handles cargo movements along the northern stretch of the North-South Railway, operated by VLI, and along the Carajás Railway, through trackage rights, in flows destined for or originating from the São Luís Port Terminal in the capital of Maranhão.
Also achieving its best October in VLI’s history, the Southeast Corridor reached 1.43 million tonnes transported by rail. In the same corridor, port operations at the Luiz Antonio Mesquita Integrated Port Terminal (Tiplam) also set an October record, shipping 1.2 million tonnes. The Southeast Corridor handles cargo from states such as São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Goiás, transported via the Centro-Atlântica Railway.
“The milestones we’ve achieved reflect our non-negotiable commitment to safety and our focus on operational excellence. These historic performances demonstrate our ability to serve customers across several strategic sectors of the Brazilian economy. We continue to act as an important pillar for the flow of general cargo, contributing to Brazil’s logistics productivity and competitiveness,” said Fabrício Rezende, VLI’s Executive Director of Operations.
