Volkswagen exports rise 50% in 2025, boosted by Argentina demand

Volkswagen do Brasil increased its exports by 50% between January and August 2025, reaching 83,696 units shipped in the period. In the same interval of 2024, the company had exported 55,873 vehicles. In August alone, the brand sent 15,999 units abroad, the best monthly result since April 2018, when 18,752 vehicles were shipped.

Argentina remains the main destination, receiving 41,334 vehicles between January and August 2025—almost double the volume in 2024 (+99%). The neighboring country alone accounts for nearly half of Volkswagen’s exports.

Other markets also recorded growth: Mexico (+6%, with 20,447 units), Colombia (+76%, with 8,178 units), and Chile (+82%, with 5,280 units).

The company also continues to export to countries such as Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru, and the Dominican Republic, and this year resumed shipments to Africa, sending batches to Cameroon, the Ivory Coast, Ghana, Madagascar, Rwanda, and Senegal.

Most exported models
The Polo leads the ranking, with 27,445 units exported from January to August (+36% versus 2024). The hatchback is also a highlight in the domestic market: it has been Brazil’s best-selling vehicle for five consecutive months and leads the 2025 cumulative ranking with 83,064 registrations.

It is followed by the Saveiro (15,687 units exported), the new T-Cross (13,963, +80%), the new Nivus (12,690, +26%), and the Tera SUV (11,152). In addition to its international performance, the T-Cross remains the best-selling SUV in the Brazilian market this year, with 61,253 units registered through August.

According to Hendrik Muth, Vice President of Sales for Volkswagen Region SAM, the results underscore the competitiveness of the Brazilian operation: “This year we have already increased our shipments by 50%, with growth in all our main external markets. These numbers reinforce the quality of the models produced in Brazil and the trust we have earned in Latin America and Africa,” he said.

The company uses the ports of Santos (SP), Paranaguá (PR), Vitória (ES), and Suape (PE) for exports and imports. In 2025, it began shipping the Tera SUV to markets such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico.
