Wilson Sons inaugurated the new facilities of its Training Center last Thursday (September 25) with a tug maneuver simulator, now located at the Palazzo Building on Avenida Ana Costa in Santos, SP. The simulator has been upgraded and will be used to train the company’s vessel captains and other seafarers in safety procedures and the use of cutting-edge technologies. These professionals operate the company’s fleet of more than 80 tugboats, which serve over 25 ports along the Brazilian coast, supporting both domestic and international trade as well as the offshore energy industry.
Training on the simulator equips captains with a focus on safety and operational efficiency. It also allows the analysis and improvement of maneuvers involving large ships, such as those 366 meters in length, which have begun operating in Brazilian coastal ports, thereby helping to reduce operational restrictions at these terminals.
Another key feature of the technology is scenario analysis, which enables the simulation of different environments, allowing for the testing and development of solutions for various port challenges faced in Brazil, with customized simulations tailored to each port.
The maneuver simulator at the new location can also be utilized by clients and stakeholders for project analysis and testing purposes. The site already housed the Wilson Sons Tugboat Operations Center (COR), which, since 2011, has monitored the company’s tug fleet in real time.
