The Brazilian shipping company Wilson Sons reported having sent the first beef shipment to Russia from the container terminal Tecon Salvador in the state of Bahia. According to the company, the first beef export operation held in the capital state of Bahia took place last month and was destined for Saint Petersburg.
“The total volume exported was 28 tonnes. There are other shipments planned for the next few weeks,” informed the company. Russia resumed imports of beef and pork from Brazil in 2021.
“Salvador has turned itself into a viable logistical alternative. Through Tecon Salvador, we export beef produced in Minas Gerais, Tocantins, and Bahia. The efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture have encouraged the market to see the Port of Salvador as a viable option to connect Brazil with the rest of the world,” said the commercial manager of Wilson Sons, Guilherme Dutra.
