YTD trade balance registers a surplus of US$ 25.21 bi, up 69.6%

The year-to-date trade balance registered a new surplus of US$ 25.21 billion up to the third week of May, an increase of 69.6% by the daily average, compared to January to May 2020. The trade flow (sum of exports and imports) was US$ 178.18 billion in the period, up 25.7%.
The result reflects US$ 101.69 billion of exports, an increase of 29.8%, and US$ 76.48 billion of imports, up 20.5%. The data were released this Monday, May 24, by the Foreign Trade Secretariat (SECEX) of the Ministry of Economy.
In the accumulated result for the month, exports rose 49%, reaching US$ 19.58 billion, while imports increased by 57.3% and totaled US$ 12.61 billion. Thus, the trade balance registered a surplus of US$ 6.97 billion, an increase of 36%, while the trade flow reached US$ 32.18 billion, increasing 52.2%.
In the third week of May alone, exports totaled US$ 6.392 billion, while imports totaled US$ 4.012 billion. Thus, the trade balance registered a surplus of US$ 2.38 billion and the trade flow reached US$ 10.404 billion.
