China’s container export freight index up 13.9% in June

The China Containerized Freight Index (CCFI) rose 13.9% month-on-month in June, averaging 2,483.6, according to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange.
The index for the Persian Gulf/Red Sea service led the rise with a month-on-month increase of 21.3%, followed by Mediterranean and European routes, which increased 17.9% and 15.2%, respectively, compared to the previous month.
CCFI tracks contract and spot freight rates from Chinese container ports for 12 shipping routes worldwide, based on data from 22 international carriers.
The index was set at 1,000 on January 1, 1998.
