Russia worried about re-exports from Eurasian countries
May, 24, 2022 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202221
Even though Russia will harvest a record wheat crop in 2022, the country is concerned about re-exports from members of the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) and is thus insisting on implementing export quotas and taxes on grains from these countries. According to reports, Russia stated this at an EAEU meeting on May 20.
Sources said that Russia insisted that all member states should implement quotas and tariffs on grain exports to third countries. The Russian Ministry of Agriculture considers this measure necessary to prevent Russian grains from being re-exported through the EAEU to avoid restrictions.
