Rural association asks Argentina not to extend shipment authorizations
Nov, 18, 2022 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek
Argentina’s rural association of the Santa Fe province (Carsfe) filed requests with the government to ensure greater export predictability and a healthier competitive environment after corn exports topped 20 million tonnes.
Carsfe criticizes that the Argentine government is considering increasing the quota for registering affidavits for corn exports in a moment of low productivity. Hence, they ask the government of Argentina to refrain from authorizing any further increases similar to those recently approved for wheat, a measure that generates distortions in the commercial chain.
“The last three seasons’ climate has wreaked havoc on agricultural and livestock production. This season’s planting is taking place in a context of unprecedented water scarcity in many regions, with only 19% of crops planted as of October 27th, far behind previous campaigns,” Carsfe concludes.
