The Suape Port Industrial Complex and the Maritime Authority of Panama (AMP) signed a technical cooperation agreement to share innovative and successful experiences in port operations and develop socio-environmental measures that promote environmentally-aware economic growth.
The agreement results from a visit to the AMP in Panama City paid in August 2022 by the director-president of the state-owned company, Francisco Martins (at the time, director of Planning and Management at Suape). The term of cooperation was signed last December 30th.
The technical cooperation agreement will also raise economic development by increasing operational efficiency indicators and improving environmental and social management practices in line with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). “This is one of the most important aspirations of Suape, and it is already consistent with good ESG practices” (environmental, social and governance management).
The cooperation agreement also aims to create connections with international partners and promote the feasibility of new trade routes. “This will directly reflect in the increase in cargo throughput and more business opportunities for the port, boosting the economy of Pernambuco and the region,” emphasized the manager.
