The National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) approved the 5.03% readjustment of the tariff table for the North-South railroad. The decision was published by the Ministry of Transport in the Official Gazette (DOU).
In addition to the formula used to calculate the tariff, ANTT Decision 17 presents a table with values to be charged for each type of merchandise: fertilizers; cement, lime and clinker (basic raw material for various types of cement); sugar; vegetable oil; grains and bran; fuels; and cotton, among others.
The decision also includes the amounts to be charged for full and empty containers, 20 and 40 feet; as well as the tariff that will be charged for right of way. Check the complete rate table here.
Backbone
The North-South Railway was conceived with the purpose of being the backbone of the Brazilian railway system, through which the main railway networks would be interconnected, facilitating the flow of national production and allowing the connection between several producing regions and the major ports of the country.
When completed, it will cover more than 4,000 kilometers and will cross the country lengthwise, going from Rio Grande do Sul to Pará, passing through the Southeast and Midwest regions and connecting to the Northeast, in particular Maranhão.
