The company that manages the Paranaguá Container Terminal (TCP) set a new historic record for cargo handling in a single month: 137,370 TEUs were handled during the 31 days of October. This figure represents a 10% increase compared to the volume recorded in the same month of the previous year and marks the fourth time TCP has broken its monthly handling record in 2024.

“The successive records in volume handled this year are a direct reflection of the completion of our most recent investment package, worth R$ 370 million, which included the expansion of our equipment fleet with 40 RTGs (rubber-tired gantry cranes) and 69 TTs (transport trucks), as well as the completion of important infrastructure projects, such as the modernization of the gates (access roads to the terminal),” explains Felipe de França, Operations Planning Manager at TCP. “With these investments, the market can now import and export more containers through Paranaguá, knowing it can rely on our operational capacity to continue expanding its businesses globally.”

In October, exports accounted for 45,119 TEUs, with a highlight on shipments in the meat and frozen goods sector, which reached 22,285 TEUs, equivalent to 305 thousand tons of goods. The agribusiness, paper, and wood sectors (16,883 TEUs) and the consumer goods and electronics sectors (2,118 TEUs) came in second and third place, respectively.

Imports reached 34,873 TEUs, driven by the arrival of consumer goods and electronics (10,141 TEUs). The automotive and vehicle sector (9,928 TEUs) and the chemicals and petrochemicals sector (6,077 TEUs) were in second and third place.

October also marked the second-highest ship arrivals in TCP’s history, with 88 vessels docking at the terminal’s quay. This number was just one vessel short of the current record of 89, set in February 2024.

On October 21st, TCP handled 1.25 million TEUs, the same total volume handled in 2023, representing a 34% cumulative growth for the year.
