The Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, will sign on Monday (15), in Brasília, a commitment agreement that guarantees the transfer of funds for the paving of access roads and the internal area of the Port of Santana, in Amapá.
Located in the municipality of the same name, 18 km from Macapá, the Port of Santana is the main port terminal in the state. Formerly called the Port of Macapá, the complex is situated at the mouth of the Amazon River and is managed by Companhia Docas de Santana (CDSA), linked to the Municipality of Santana. The port plays a strategic role in the outflow of local production via the Amapá Railway, as well as ensuring the arrival of industrialized goods and food to the state.
With two piers, measuring 200 and 150 meters long, both 21.6 meters wide, and with a draft of up to 11.5 meters, the terminal handles cargo such as iron ore, wood, soybeans, corn, manganese, fertilizers, and food. The paving project will ensure greater safety and efficiency in vehicle circulation, strengthening Amapá’s logistical competitiveness.
