The Polícia Federal arrested, this Wednesday (February 4), a member of a criminal organization responsible for placing large quantities of drugs into shipments bound for overseas destinations through the Porto de Salvador.
Investigations indicated that the suspect operated strategically within the logistics chain, enabling the contamination of legitimate cargo with cocaine that was intended to be shipped to Europe. Based on the cases already investigated, approximately 1.7 tonnes of narcotics have been seized.
The operation was supported by the Polícia Militar da Bahia and resulted from extensive investigative work by the Polícia Federal, which showed that the scheme used sophisticated methods to insert the drugs into export containers. The contaminated shipments were identified in separate operations, each resulting in the seizure of hundreds of kilograms of cocaine.
The Polícia Federal reaffirmed that combating international drug trafficking is of fundamental importance, as this crime finances other illicit activities, fuels violence, and undermines the credibility of Brazilian foreign trade. The arrest of the suspect and the significant seizures demonstrate the effectiveness of coordinated actions and the Brazilian state’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks that attempt to use national ports as routes for international trafficking.
