Super Terminais has taken another strategic step in its infrastructure plan with the arrival of three new state-of-the-art electric cranes, which will be added to the company’s fleet. The acquisition of the Konecranes equipment is part of the company’s energy transition plan, bringing its electric crane fleet to six units in operation. The investment totaled R$120 million.
The new Gottwald ESP 10 cranes maintain the high-performance technical features of the first generation. They have a lifting capacity of up to 125 tonnes, can operate at speeds of up to 120 meters per minute and have a maximum boom outreach of 64 meters.
Those specifications allow the terminal to handle large vessels with up to 19 rows of containers, including Super Post-Panamax ships. Because the cranes are fully electric and connected to the land-based power grid, they eliminate hydraulic systems and sharply reduce the use of oil and fossil fuels, supporting high logistics productivity with no direct atmospheric emissions from crane operations.
“The arrival of three more cranes is a milestone that reaffirms our commitment to leading a green agenda in port activity, combining environmental responsibility with maximum logistics performance. These investments ensure lower-carbon operations and give us the strength we need to serve even larger vessels and the growing demand from the Manaus Free Trade Zone with sustainability and cutting-edge technology,” said Marcello Di Gregorio, CEO of Super Terminais.
In addition to expanding its equipment fleet, the modernization project includes investments to expand the terminal’s port infrastructure. The plan includes a 120-meter extension of the pier, bringing its total length to 720 meters.
The work will increase the terminal’s physical capacity from four to six simultaneous berths. Together with the speed and technology of the new cranes, the infrastructure upgrade is expected to make cargo flows and unloading operations at the terminal more robust and efficient.
