Argentina suspends export taxes on aluminum and steel until the end of 2025

The Argentine government has suspended export taxes on aluminum, steel, and related products until the end of 2025. The resolution was published in the country’s Official Gazette.

The measure will remain in effect until 31 December or until countries involved in ongoing negotiations reduce their tariffs below 45%.

According to the decree, the decision is a response by the government to “the practices of various countries that, through the imposition of import tariffs of significant magnitude, have restricted access for aluminum and steel products to international trade, constituting a form of protectionism that directly affects the competitiveness of Argentine exports.”

The resolution takes effect this Thursday, covering exports carried out from that date onward.
