Argentina’s Port of Bahía Blanca has added a new coastal shipping service from Ushuaia, creating a route that also links Buenos Aires and is aimed at strengthening domestic container logistics, according to the port authority. The new call was announced on April 24.
The vessel ARGENTINO II made its first call at the Bahía Blanca port complex carrying more than 200 containers and was scheduled to depart later the same day for the Port of Buenos Aires.
The addition of the new cabotage leg expands Bahía Blanca’s role in Argentina’s domestic maritime network at a time when coastal shipping remains a strategic option for improving cargo flows between southern and central ports. Port officials said the new scale should support container commercialization and improve integration across the national logistics system.
The port authority also said the service could help improve logistics efficiency and strengthen Bahía Blanca’s position as a node for containerized cargo within Argentina’s port system.
